There is no visitor car parking at the Castle, so we recommend you use public car parks in the town centre. Details about parking in Windsor town centre can be found on www.windsor.gov.uk
By train
The nearest train stations are 'Windsor & Eton Central' or 'Windsor & Eton Riverside'.
Both stations are a short walk (less than 10 minutes) to the Castle but from Riverside station you will need to walk up a steep hill.

By coach / bus
Windsor Express buses operate regular services to Windsor town centre:
- Route 702 runs from near Victoria Station in central London
- Route 703 runs from Heathrow Terminal 5

Throughout 2024, we are celebrating the 100th anniversary of Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House at Windsor Castle, the largest and most famous dolls’ house in the world.

Special displays
A special centenary display is included as part of your visit to Windsor Castle. In the magnificent Waterloo Chamber get up close to some of the tiny treasures usually contained within the Dolls’ House.

The items range from a tiny concert grand piano, fully strung and with functioning keys, to miniature Crown Jewels inset with real diamonds, rubies, sapphires, emeralds and seed pearls.
Items from the kitchens and servants’ quarters include a vacuum cleaner, which was a relatively new innovation in the 1920s; and a sewing machine, complete with thread and minuscule scissors that can actually cut.

You can also see a display of miniature books created in celebration of the centenary as part of your visit to Windsor Castle. The new books include a miniature version of The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler.

As well as the special centenary displays, you can also marvel at the Dolls' House which is on permanent display at Windsor Castle.
Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House was built between 1921 and 1924 as a gift from the nation to Queen Mary following the First World War. It is a perfect 1:12 scale replica of an aristocratic Edwardian residence, complete with electricity, working lifts and running water.
Its tiny rooms range from a fully stocked wine cellar to grand entertaining salons and feature contributions from over 1,500 of the finest artists, craftspeople and manufacturers of the day.
The house went on display at Windsor Castle in 1925 and has been delighting visitors ever since.
