This medal was minted to celebrate the Coronation of King George VI in 1937. The obverse shows the King and his Queen Consort Queen Elizabeth in a joint profile both robed and crowned. This side of the medal was designed by J. Langford Jones who was employed in the Royal Mint. The reverse side of the medal shows St George spearing the dragon. This medal was produced by the Royal Society of St. George to celebrate the Coronation. The society was founded in 1894 to encourage the interest in the English way of life and explore English customs and traditions.
