Edinburgh community programme

The Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh welcomes local communities to visit the palace and its gardens, Holyrood Abbey and The Queen’s Gallery. Discover how the Palace was used by Queen Elizabeth II when carrying out official engagements in Scotland. These visits are free for pre-arranged local and disadvantaged community groups.

Privy Chamber

The Privy Chamber, created for Charles II in the late 1600s, was used by Queen Elizabeth II for private audiences with the First Minister of Scotland and visiting dignitaries.

King's Bedchamber

Designed as Charles II's bedchamber, this room is the culmination of the processional route through the palace.
