Colibri Consulting, LLC, was founded by Dawn Marie Van House to help people in transition. As a Career Transition Consultant, Dawn has 22-years of successful experience, including 16 years as an owner and operator of a private vocational consulting firm in North Oaks, Minnesota. She demonstrates skill, ability and passion in helping others navigate work-life transitions, earning her the title – Queen of Transition – by her professional peers.
Dawn chose the business name – Colibri – very carefully. Colibri translated from many different languages to English, means hummingbird. Symbolically the hummingbird represents the power of joy with a focus on the bright side, bringing swiftness of thought, with the ability to hover over situations to be examined carefully and to be renewed. Since the hummingbird is able to fly backwards, it teaches us that we too can look back on our past, but must not dwell on it; we need to move forward savoring each moment.
Dawn’s experience also includes consulting in talent management, corporate, non-profit and healthcare industries. She created a system-wide workshop for Fairview Health Services on Navigating Transitions and was the featured speaker at the Star Tribune Career Expo (2007) on Work-Life Transitions for job seekers and career changers.
Dawn’s educational experience includes a Master of Science degree in Vocational Counseling and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from St. Cloud State University. She is a nationally Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC), licensed Qualified Rehabilitation Consultant ⁄ Firm, and a member of the Collaborative Law Institute of Minnesota, International Association of Rehabilitation Providers (IARP), and she serves on the board of Minnesota Association of Rehabilitation Providers (MARP).
